Kayleigh Irene: owner, Stylist and color specialist

After moving to Louisville in 2019, I knew I wanted to create a space that blended the amazing culture of Louisville with a little bit of the magic from my home on the west coast. I opened Poppy & Rod to create a space that celebrated beauty and culture of all kinds. I don’t take being trusted with someone’s hair lightly, it is a huge part of our identity. Hair is the only thing we wear every single day, so making sure that you see your true self when you look in the mirror is so important. I am so proud to be an advocate for people’s own brand of beautiful. Every single client that sits in my chair receives a cut and color completely custom to them. I have clients from every walk of life, and it is so important to me to create a communal safe space. The culture I have built behind the chair is one of celebration and acceptance. Whether you’re grey, curly, pink, short, long, shagged or shaved… You look PERFECT.

Jessica Schiavi: Blonde and Session color Specialist

Jessica is a Highlands native with 15 years experience behind the chair. She lives her life steeped in nostalgia and loves spending time filling her wardrobe with vintage designer statement pieces she tracks down from the 80’s and 90’s. You can find the same attention to detail of weaving together past and present in her work, where she seamlessly blends classic and modern trends into wearable, but always cool styles for her clients.

After making the switch from long, ebony hair, she slowly transitioned herself to platinum blonde. This journey made her uniquely adept at leading clients safely to their healthiest and most flattering blonde by understanding exactly how important each step of this process is, what to expect, and how to find the perfect shades for each individual face.

Hannah Dufford: lived in color specialist

Growing up in a small town in Ohio, I remember a friend telling me that my dreams were bigger than my hometown could offer. I had dreams and goals to never stop learning and growing, and a passion to make others feel beautiful and their true authentic self. I attended cosmetology school at Aveda Fredrics institute in Cincinnati, Ohio and immediately upon certification I moved my life to Lexington, KY. After three years I just knew relocating to Louisville would be just what I needed in order to stay true to myself and my desire to “learn and grow more.” I look forward to hearing your individual and unique stories while I utilize my skills to help you find your true authentic self. Making someone look and feel beautiful is something that gives me so much joy and I always look forward to the look on my guest’s faces when they look in the mirror and feel that their external self matches who they are on the inside.
